Healing Installations at We Care Spa
At We Care Spa we approach your healing wholistically. As such we have permanent installations that are not only unique and beautiful, but also enhance your detoxification and spiritual well-being.
The Ancient Labyrinth – A Universal Symbol of Transformation
The labyrinth was created in ancient times to represent humankind’s search for the core of divinity. The pattern is an archetypal form dating back thousands of years. No one knows who created the original labyrinth form, but we do know from experience that embedded within each design is a pattern that guides us to our deepest inner being. Whether walked or traced in sand, the labyrinth pattern is a powerful tool for reflection, invocation, meditation and healing.
Unlike a maze, a labyrinth has one linear path that starts from the outer edge, moves into the heart or center, and then back out again. Through the act of trusting the path and giving up conscious control of how things should go, we are opened up to a whole new world. Through the beautiful flow of their sacred patterns, labyrinths help us ground ourselves and experience a relaxing state of timelessness.
Our labyrinth holds many memories. Many of the stones were placed by guests who learned to express their creativity – and free their spirits – through the art of mosaic. You’ll see these colorful reminders as you walk the path towards the center.
We Care Spa built a sacred labyrinth over 25 years ago because of its healing and detoxifying properties and the profound place it holds in the process of detoxifying the body, mind and spirit.
Temple of Gravity
This art piece was commissioned for the 2003 Burning Man event, held in the Nevada Desert. Consisting of five granite slabs weighing over 7 tons each that are angled to hang between 6 and 12 feet above ground level, the entire sculpture weighs around 160,000 lbs total. The supporting 24-foot-high structure is a steel dome with a design that is open to the sky without a roof or walls.
In order to preserve and protect this art piece for the enjoyment of others and future generations, we kindly ask you to not touch it and keep from entering the sculpture.
This installation allows you to experience the benefits of floating motion – the same safe motion that we felt, gently floating in our mother’s womb. It has positive effects on the lymphatic and circulatory systems, activating a deep, powerful relaxation response.
The subtle motion provides better sleep, and less morning stiffness. Studies show rocking improves dreams, and reduces overall stress. Though not fully understood, the mechanism is also reported to cure motion sickness.
Rocking also increases oxygen delivery to the cells. Your body burns food and oxygen to generate electricity to power your muscles and nervous system. Your cells are starved for oxygen until the lymphatic vessels remove toxins, blood proteins, and water. Rocking promotes this electrochemistry, increasing overall health, energy, and alertness. During rocking, lymphatic circulation increases while you are in a relaxed physical, emotional, and mental state. This experience provides motion that is vital to the body as it enters a more positive state, ready for healing
The Medicine Wheel
This hand built structure is built around the 4 directions and represents the soul's journey. You'll find a subtle shift in your energy as you stand at each direction.
Medicine wheels, or sacred hoops, were constructed by laying stones in a particular pattern on the ground. Most medicine wheels follow the basic pattern of having a center of stones, surrounded by an outer ring of stones with spokes or lines of rocks radiating from the center. Originally, and still today, medicine wheels are constructed by certain indigenous peoples of North America for various astronomical, ritual, healing, detoxification and teaching purposes.
The Medicine Wheel is representative of American Indian Spirituality. It symbolizes the individual journey we each must take to find our own path. Within it are The Four Cardinal Directions and the Four Sacred Colors. The Circle represents the Circle of Life and the Center of the Circle, the Eternal Fire. The Eagle, flying toward the East, is a symbol of strength, endurance and vision.
The symbology found in our Medicine Wheel:
East = Red = success; triumph
North = Blue = defeat; trouble
West = Black = death
South = White = peace; happiness
Down Below = Brown
Here in the Center = Green
Winter = go-la
The color for North is Blue which represents sadness, defeat. It is a season of survival and waiting. The color for East is Red which represents victory, power. Spring is the re-awakening after a long sleep, victory over winter; the power of new life. The color for South is White for peace, happiness & serenity. Summer is a time of plenty. The color for West is Black which represents death. Autumn is the final harvest; the end of Life's Cycle.
Far Infra-Red Sauna
Far infra-red heat is a completely safe form of naturally occurring energy that travels 2 to 3 inches deep into your body, warmimg it up.
This warming, similar to a fever, has a positive effect on your immune system. Your body naturally boosts the function of your immune system during a fever, detoxifying and slowing down virus and bacterial growth.
Far infra-red sauna therapy allows increased blood circulation to carry great amounts of nutrients to the skin, promoting healthy tone and texture. It also provides a mild cleansing of the skin.
Far infra-red Saunas detoxify the body and get rid of fat. One liter of sweat in an ordinary sauna contains approximately 3% toxins, in an far infra-red sauna this is 20%, including heavy metals such as cadmium, nickel and lead.
Many toxins are flushed out when in a far infra-red sauna. Human body fat starts to liquefy at 110 degrees Fahrenheit. When fat leaves your body through transpiration, it takes heavy metals along on the way out which is the deepest level of detoxifcation during your juice fasting program. The deep penetration of far infra-red energy in your skin makes this happen. This does not occur in a traditional sauna, only in an far infra-red sauna.
Increased blood circulation stimulates the sweat glands, releasing built-up toxins and waste. Daily sweating can help detoxify your body as it rids itself of an accumulation of potentially carcinogenic heavy metals (lead, mercury, zinc, nickel, cadmium) as well as alcohol, nicotine, sodium, sulfuric acid and cholesterol.
Losing weight in an far infra-red sauna occurs because you burn calories when you sweat.
You can easily produce up to half a liter of transpiration during an average 30 minute infrared session. This is the equivalent of 300 Kcal, and all you have to do is sit and relax.
In comparison, anyone using a sauna could easily burn 600 to 800 Kcal because the far infra-red heat penetrates deeper into your body than the heat in an ordinary sauna. Because human fat starts to liquefy at 110 degrees F, subcutaneous fat can be released along with your sweat. Your pores are cleansed, your skin will become healthier and you get rid of all kinds of toxins that are accumulating in your body fat.
3 Keys to successful detoxification using the far infra-red sauna:
Hydrate; Drink at least 2-3, 8 oz glasses of Alkaline Kangen water for every 15 minute session.
Monitor your time; each session should last no more than 30 min.
Use hot/cold stimulation to intensify the effects; Alternate your sauna sessions with a jump in the pool. This sequence is very stimulating to the body.
